As the nature of our business can vary with changes in customer requirements and operating procedures the following tasks are the key duties of the role, but it is understood that the Job holder will undertake any function in which he/she is adequately trained or competent. If in time significant changes to the role are experienced a new Job Description will be issued.

The job holder will assist with the production of printed leaflets and booklets within agreed quality standards as specified by the Customer and in compliance with ISO and PS9000 Quality standards and the OHSAS18001 H&S standard.

The Opportunity:

  • To undergo training with the intention to become fully qualified in various finishing processes
  • To follow a training plan with enthusiasm, understanding and dedication whilst working safely and following established safe systems of working
  • To retain learning and be flexible to learn about the print and finishing industry and the workings of WestRock
  • To participate in regular reviews concerning the achievement of targets and objectives set by the Production Manager
  • This list of duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and WestRock would expect the Apprentice to carry out any other reasonable duties they are capable of performing

A Print Finishing Apprentice requires many skills including:

  • An ability to apply a step by step approach to machine set up and change overs
  • A broad knowledge of machinery mechanics and maintenance
  • Working with a range of instruments, machinery and specialised tools
  • Planning and producing pharmaceutical and healthcare leaflets
  • To work in a safe manner adhering to laid down health and safety procedures
  • To report all accidents and dangerous occurrences or near misses to management
