    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

As part of the TrAC team of apprentices, your first placement would be as a Site Technician apprentice.
 

We are looking for a L3 NVQ Site Technician apprentice to work on sites in Faversham. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who would like to learn about supervision and management. The successful individual will also learn about the planning and control elements within construction projects. The qualification will include elements of; Health, Safety and Welfare; Sustainability, Design, Science, Materials, Maths and Building Technology in Construction; Project Management; Graphical Detailing; Surveying; Finance; Design; Law and Planning Procedures. The ideal candidate will already have completed a trade related qualification or have some experience working in construction.  We are looking for someone who has a real interest in the area as well as the operation of sites. This is an excellent opportunity for somebody looking to further their career and reach their full potential.

Desired skills

  • The ideal candidate will probably have already achieved a qualification in a construction related discipline or have experience in working on a construction site.  
  • Achieving a Level 3 Site Technician NVQ will enable you to carry out your duties with confidence and help you to communicate effectively at work.
  • You will attend college and work onsite to gain the vital experience needed to become an effective Site Technician.
  • Although it isn’t necessary for the apprentice to drive, the ability to get to pick up points/site is vital.

Personal qualities

  • The successful candidate will have good initiative and a willingness to learn, they will also enjoy working with people and as part of a team.
  • You will also possess excellent communication skills and be able to establish and maintain good and effective working relationships. 
  • A real interest in construction is essential as is a strong work ethic and a desire to progress into a management role.

Qualifications required

  • Level 2 NVQ or GCSEs grade C and above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • An offer of employment is subject to you taking and passing the CSCS test and a Drug and Alcohol test.

An apprenticeship will give you the knowledge, skills and experience you need to apply for a job in the area you have trained in.

We will give you support to progress into employment, education or further training towards the end of your apprenticeship.

Things to consider

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Training provider

  • Apprenticeship training NVQ Level 3 in Site Supervision.
  • Most of our apprenticeships take 24 months to complete at Level 3, therefore you will be on an 24 month fixed contract.
  • During the 24 month Apprenticeship you would complete an NVQ and Diploma.
  • After completing the Level 3 Apprenticeship you may be given the opportunity to progress to a Level 4 qualification for a further year.
