As an apprentice, you will gain and develop the skills and behaviours necessary to ensure consistent and relevant diagnostic management in support of the various IT applications and systems in place.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

Support and assist with a range of company hardware and telephony systems and by doing so, maintain an awareness of new products into the market and advise suitability accordingly.  Ensure the integrity and security of computer data and systems which is paramount to meeting compliance and regulations within the industry.

Accountabilities (and supporting activities)

1 - Handle first line support requirements:

  • Support desktop hardware, software, networks and operating systems.
  • Provide first line support involving routers, firewalls and business communications.
  • Help identify corrective actions resulting from support calls.

2 - Maintenance and Support:

  • Carry out preventative maintenance on company computer systems.
  • Implement timely upgrades.
  • Bug fix and amend software to reflect changes to business procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance contract records are kept up to date.
  • Meet KPI’s to ensure systems are restored within 24 hours and subsidiary systems within 48 hours.

3 - Monitor system and database performance:

  • Identify specific systems not meeting required standard.
  • Implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain performance records understands company products and services.

4 - Deliver the safety agenda of the Company:

  • Think safety.
  • Take ownership for all accident reporting affecting you or your team.
  • Identify potentials and report.

5 - Fulfill other duties as required:

  1. Pick up new activities that fall broadly in the purpose of the role.
  2. Fix things that you can see need fixing.
  3. Identify problems and find solutions.
