As an Apprentice Accounts Assistant, your general day to day duties and responsibilities would be as follows:

  • Use of Sage 50 Accounts software to maintain sales and purchase ledgers
  • Use of Sage 50 Accounts software to maintain and reconcile bank accounts, clearing receipts and payments.
  • Entering sales and purchase invoices including dealing with export transactions within the EU
  • Submitting and keeping up to date with HMRC Intrastats online for company exports·
  • Ensuring the relevant documentation behind exports are up to date and complete
  • Communicating with international suppliers; supplying relevant commodity codes and duty rates for importing goods
  • Assisting with VAT Returns
  • General admin duties/maintaining companies filing system and accurate accounting records
  • Chasing debtors by sending out monthly statements to customers
  • Dealing with customer/supplier queries
  • Creating purchase orders and goods received notes
  • Ensure the correct pricing policy of imported goods in maintained on company systems
  • Answering telephones and support the Director with any general day to day queries
  • Assisting with Sales Ledger, Bank Accounts, balance sheet, prepayments

General admin duties will include:

  • Answering phone call, taking down messages
  • Updating spreadsheets
  • Filling and shredding
