    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

A well establish building company based in Sandbach and Holmes Chapel run by time served bricklayers.

The company deliver a range of construction projects including new build, extensions and renovations, so the prospective apprentice would complete a variety of manual tasks during their apprenticeship.

Daily duties will include:

  • Carrying out measurements
  • Using a mechanical blender to mix mortar or doing so by hand
  • Laying bricks
  • Using tools such as hammers and chisels to alter and refine the shape of brickwork
  • Working alongside other bricklayers
  • Full training will be given to the successful candidate

The company is looking for an enthusiastic candidate, with a good work ethic and would value the opportunity to serve an apprenticeship. First class time keeping is essential alongside a willingness to learn. A very good opportunity for the right calibre candidate to work in the industry, learn a trade and start a career in construction.   

The ideal location for the prospective apprentice would be in the Sandbach  or Holmes chapel area

The successful apprentice would be required to attend Build Skill Plus the specialist bricklaying apprenticeship centre based in Winsford in Cheshire once a week.
