Duties will include:

  • Having formal and informal meetings with teachers to contribute to planning lessons/activities
  • Preparing materials and resources
  • Supporting differentiated activities with identified groups
  • Supervising practical task
  • Assist by carrying out structured classroom assessment/observation, providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Be involved in keeping records of the progress made by the children
  • Support teachers in managing class behaviour, helping keep the children on task and well-motivated
  • Supervise small group activities

Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • Functional skills in maths, English and ICT (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA) - in addition to the Diploma, apprentices will be working towards achieving the knowledge, skills and behaviours for the Teaching Assistant Standard. This is achieved on completion of an externally assessed end point assessment
  • Learners will need to complete a portfolio of evidence to support this and the EPA consists of the following activities: practical observation with questions & answers. professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence
