Due to on-going growth the following vacancy has arisen:

The Port of Blyth is looking for an apprentice to train in business administration supporting a range of departments whilst gaining good experience of a wide range of skills and tasks.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to work accurately across a range of duties whilst having good communication and IT skills.

The role will involve being the first point of contact through calls, visitors and emails together with assisting with customers’ requirements and other general administration duties in various parts of the port.

Duties will include:

  • Greeting visitors at reception and directing them to the correct meeting room
  • Ensuring meeting rooms are set up for all internal and external meetings including refreshments and stationery
  • Ensuring the office is kept clean and tidy at all times
  • Manage and maintain the archive rooms
  • Compile reports
  • Ordering office supplies
  • Maintain and monitor stationery and PPE cupboards
  • Assist with all general administration across the company including scanning, printing, copying and filing

As part of a team exposed to a wide range of duties across a number of Port departments, the successful candidate will also have an excellent opportunity to administration skills through the apprenticeship programme.

Desired qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have GCSEs, or equivalent, grade 4/C or above in maths, English & ICT
  • Please note that level 2 adult literacy and level 2 adult numeracy will not be accepted.  This is due to the apprenticeship certificate awarding body’s requirements
