You must WANT to be a chef or waiter/waitress and be aiming for a career in hospitality. This is not just something to do for people who don’t know what to do. They need to learn fast and be able to cope with extremely busy lunchtimes.

Respectful, good communicators (able to hold a conversation with confidence) and resilient enough to cope with instruction and feedback from the Head Chef and his team. NB. There are 3, sometimes 4 French people in our team so be open to their style of working and communication.

Kitchen/chef apprentice will learn the basics of French food including patisserie. This is a busy café within a highly respected art gallery. Our reputation and that of the Burton, is important.

  • Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) would be advantageous

Future prospects

Successful apprentices will be prioritised for permanent positions.
