Please note the weekly wage will be reviewed and increased throughout the duration of the apprenticeship subject to meeting performance targets. 

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure all learner and employer documentation are checked for accuracy, followed up appropriately to enable correct inputting and updating of the management information system
  • Maintain accurate and auditable records, including financial controls, ensuring contract and funding requirements are met
  • Maintain and improve management systems
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of funding requirements
  • Preparation of learner files in association with individual contracts
  • Accurate and compliant preparation of leaver files
  • Support the production of accurate and timely performance reports
  • Support the team members with general and specific administrative support, including filing, photocopying, and scanning
  • Send and receive electronic information
  • Ensure that correspondence from the organisation is of the required standard and tone
  • Prioritise workload, be flexible to changing deadlines and pay close attention to detail
  • Operate information technology effectively, especially Outlook and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
  • Treat confidential information correctly
  • Work effectively with all team members
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, direct callers, deal with queries, take messages and forward as appropriate
  • Handle internal and external enquires (including employers and learners, both via telephone and face to face) providing effective and efficient customer service
  • Undertaking other administration duties as dictated by the needs of the organisation

Desired qualifications

Maths and English GSCE or equivalent at grade C/4 and above, is desirable but not essential as the post holder will work towards Level 2 Functional Skills alongside the apprenticeship if required.

As part of the Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard, you will learn the knowledge, skills and behaviours which will support you for your end-point assessment. You will take part in a combination of activities, such as face-to-face classroom-based sessions, remote learning sessions, work shadowing and online learning, to support your learning and development and compile a portfolio of evidence.

The successful candidate will be required to attend the Avant Skills Academy Training Centre (Hull) every other week to undertake training sessions, throughout the length of the apprenticeship. If you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 (C) in English and Maths, you will be required to complete Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths.

Off-the-job-training:

Apprenticeships are about upskilling and reaching occupational competency takes time. Many employers and apprentices have praised the positive effect off-the-job training has on their productivity and apprentices feel valued by the significant investment in their training.

All off-the-job training must be relevant to the Apprenticeship Standard being undertaken. Your off-the-job training will be agreed with your employer and Avant before you commence your programme.

End-Point Assessment (EPA):

At the end of the on-programme learning, you will be required to undertake an End-Point Assessment to demonstrate you have met the occupational standard. This includes:
