We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to develop skills and become competent producing and finishing various printed products in a busy digital printers in High Wycombe.

Duties to include:

  • Digital Printing
  • Using and maintaining digital printing machines – including wide format
  • Using the HP Indigo digital press
  • Print Finishing
  • Training will also be necessary in the finishing department - this work comes last in the process of putting together a print product

Using the following techniques/machines:

  • Guillotine cutting
  • Folding
  • Creasing
  • Perforating
  • Booklet making
  • Laminating
  • Binding

In addition, day to day maintenance on both digital and finishing machines is required as necessary.

  • The ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Good colour vision
  • Good general IT skills some knowledge of common desk-top publishing (DTP) software would be an advantage
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • No technical skills are required for the right candidate as all training will be given on the job

Qualifications required

Good Maths and English skills are required in order to be able to understand and interpret job details and instructions, however no formal qualifications are required for the right candidate as you will have the opportunity to undertake functional skills during the apprenticeship.

Future prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship a permanent full-time role within the team will be available.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies, after the first year. The Wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training. On-site assessments and a portfolio of evidence will be necessary to show work place learning. Full health and safety training will be given and PPE supplied.
