Duties and responsibilities will include:

Customer service:

  • Acknowledge all customers with a friendly and welcoming greeting
  • Identify customer needs by asking the right questions
  • Use positive body language and behaviour
  • Demonstrate products and explain how they match the customers’ individual needs to achieve retail sales
  • Offer add-on’s to increase retail profit value
  • Provide alternative products to meet the customers’ needs and expectations
  • Maintain knowledge of new and existing stock
  • Receive and correctly process customers payments
  • Deal with customer complaints in a polite and professional way
  • Tasks to be completed without interfering with customer service

Product and merchandising:

  • Shop floor and window displays are maintained, kept full, and correctly priced
  • All electrical equipment is pat tested in compliance with the sale of all second-hand electrical goods
  • Retail merchandise is unpacked, assembled, and merchandised as required
  • Retail shop floor products are kept clean

Teamwork and development:

  • Workshops as required
  • Work effectively with your colleagues at all times, and give support as and when required

Health and safety:

  • Adhere to health and safety rules to ensure a safe working environment for all

Standards:

  • Ensure the housekeeping throughout the store, both on the shop floor and back of house, are maintained to a high standard

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • IT literate with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems
  • A good knowledge of technology (mobile phones, games consoles, televisions, computers)
  • Competent and effective - good planning and organisational skills with the ability to cope with a varied workload
  • Communicate - effective interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate good verbal communications, helpful, friendly and courteous attitude

Personal qualities

  • Teamwork- ability to work as part of a small team, self-motivated with a proactive approach, able to follow direction and work on your own initiative
  • Honesty, integrity, reliable, punctual - due to the nature of our work we are looking for a candidate with a degree of social skills to work in a customer facing role with honesty, integrity, and the ability to negotiate

Desired qualifications

  • 4 GCSEs at grades D/3 or above (or equivalent) including maths and English
