Key Activity 1 – Health And Safety approx. 5% time.

Responsible for one’s own, co-workers and stakeholders health and safety.

Key Activity 2 – Administration approx. 55% time.

Compile and produce any customer requested reports, such as OTIF, extra cost reports etc. within the time frame required. Provide support to the customer service team in preparation and handling of all necessary documentation such as bills of lading, delivery notes, job instructions etc.

Request and communicate costs and rates where applicable and provide schedule information.

Any other admin tasks deemed necessary by the General Manager to develop and ensure

Key Activity 3 – Cost Recovery approx. 15 % time.

Through the kickback report and review of the jobs after completion and with the guidance of the customer service team - review, advise the customer and recharge all applicable additional costs.

Key Activity 4 – Service Delivery approx. 15 % time.

With input from the customer service team, handle customer order requests and provide accurate and timely information about services, lead times and costs.

Ensure key events of the transports are communicated immediately such as load and delivery confirmations.

Through the creation of an order, ensure all the required details are captured in the system and communicate key requirements to other internal departments to ensure all customer requests are met.

Key Activity 5 – Invoice Processing approx. 10% time.

Provide support to other administration teams in processing supplier invoices as and when required.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Reasonable level of maths and English
  • Competent in the use of IT packages including knowledge of Microsoft Office packages e.g. Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Some geographical knowledge


  • Previous roles in customer service or within logistics industry would be an advantage
  • Experience of managing a range of tasks in a prioritised structure

Desired qualifications

GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English.

An ICT qualification (or equivalent) would also be an advantage.

You will receive regular training and guidance form your work place mentor. You will also work towards achieving a Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship which also includes English and maths Functional Skills although you may be exempt from the Functional Skills depending on your previous qualifications.

You will spend 80% of your time working for the employer and 20% of your time in off the job training, this will mostly take place at Stockton Council Learning & Skills in Billingham.
