C Desai Dental practice is delighted to announce they have an opportunity for an Apprentice Dental Nurse to start a rewarding career in the industry. You will be provided with training and support, leading to a formally recognised qualification in dental nursing, which complies with the General Dental Council regulations.

The Apprentice Dental Nurse role will require you to support your colleagues in providing an excellent service to all of our patients.

Your duties would typically include the following:

  • Assisting the dentist, chair side, during clinical procedures.
  • Keeping the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile.
  • Ensuring the best care and welfare of patients.
  • Accurately completing patient clinical records as directed.
  • Ensuring adequate stock of materials and other items within the surgery.
  • Ensuring computer/written records are accurately maintained and securely stored.
  • Liaising with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records.  
  • It is essential that the successful candidate understands the importance of patient confidentiality.

  • It is essential that we recruit someone with strong people skills and who has the ability to empathise with our patients in any given situation.

Qualifications required

  • GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent qualification) is desirable.

Most employers working with Leicester College are keen to offer permanent employment to a reliable, hardworking individual, based on their performance throughout their Apprenticeship. **The £4 per hour wage will be reviewed after an initial 3 month trial period.**

Things to consider

The practice is very busy and you will be exposed to the sight of blood. The successful candidate will be expected to work hard towards gaining their formal qualifications. Interview, closing date and possible start dates are only a guideline, as interviews for this position will be held on an ongoing basis, therefore the start date could alter, as the vacancy will close as soon as a successful candidate is selected. Opening hours can be flexible, but we are generally open at the following times: Monday 9.30am to 12pm – 2pm to 5pm Tuesday – 9.30am-12.30pm Wednesday 1.30pm to 5.30pm Thursday 1pm to 5pm Friday 9.30am to 12.30pm – 2pm to 5.30pm Saturdays 9.30am to 12 noon We also have another dental practice based on Thurncourt Road LE5 2NN. You will also be required to work out of this practice as required. *your 30 hour working week will be within these hours on a flexible basis. The successful candidate will be required to have a Hep B vaccination and a DBS check. Attendance on the Dental Nursing course at Leicester College is a mandatory requirement for this position. You will be given time off during your working week to complete all aspects of the advanced apprenticeship programme. As of the 1st October 2016 the Apprentice NMW is £3.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Training provider

  • The advanced apprenticeship programme will require you to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing.
  • This is a 15 unit programme of which 11 units are portfolio based and assessed in the workplace.
  • The remaining 4 units are theory based and delivered via eLearning through your assessor.
  • The Apprentice may also be offered additional support to complete key skills if you haven't achieved a level 2 qualification in both Maths and English within the past 5 years.
  • Alongside the structured training programme offered through the apprenticeship, C Desai will also provide you with a full induction programme and continuous mentoring and support from our experienced and qualified staff.
