    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage rates are £4.05 an hour for 16 - 17 year olds, £5.60 an hour for 18 - 20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship(usually one day per week).

Things to consider

One late night per week. Working Saturdays. Hairdressing is physically hard work and you will be on your feet for a long time every day. Hairdressing requires some understanding of human biology and chemistry, and this will be taught during your Apprenticeship. Hairdressing is heavily customer-focused and you will be constantly interacting with people.

Training provider

Apprentices will attend college once a month, where all theory work will be provided.

Apprentices will work towards an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Hairdressing, which includes:
