Wages explained
The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.40 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.55 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £6.95 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

40 hours Two shift system (closed Sunday & Monday) Earliest start 10:30am – (shift 1 -10:30 -2:30pm) Latest finish 9pm – (shift 2 - 5pm – 9pm)

Main Responsibilities and duties for the role:

  • Maintaining safe and hygienic working area
  • Working effectively in a team
  • Maintaining food safety when storing / preparing and cooking food

This will include production of:

  • Meat & Poultry dishes
  • Rice, Pulse and grain dishes
  • Cakes, Sponges and Scones
  • Vegetable dishes
  • Food suitable for customers with allergies
  • Present new items for the menu items according to a defined brand standard

This position will also require:

  • Completion of kitchen documentation
  • Presenting yourself professionally to customers

In order to be successful within the role, the chosen candidate must be self-motivated with the potential of progressing onto an advanced apprenticeship.

The chosen candidate must also have good written and verbal communication skills, show enthusiasm and work well both within in a team or using own initiative.

The candidate will be provided with excellent training opportunities and a structured career development whilst working for a successful, well established organisation.

Qualifications required

No previous qualifications are required as all training will be provided.

However previous work experience in food production is valued highly and the opportunity would suit someone with previous work experience.

Has very busy period when you will be physically active lot. You will be expected to go out and talk to the public. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.40 per hour from 1st October 2016. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
