South Coast Web Design is a small company based in Poole and we pride ourselves in providing a friendly, personal and warm service to all of our clients. We help with the whole process from choosing a domain and managing it, to providing high quality UK based web hosting on our own servers, to building our clients’ web dream.

We have a great portfolio of clients with a really varied range of businesses so we are working hard to keep their websites fresh and appealing and develop new sites for new customers.

We are now looking for a creative and keen Web Design apprentice who will assist our Design team in all things web. You’ll get involved with a wide variety of work including:

 

Assisting to the Design team in the further development of existing customer websites including:

  • Initial creation of website
  • Front end development

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Some basic/medium PHP coding experience.
  • Computer literate, accurate keyboard skills.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Good written English, including punctuation and grammar.
  • Organised and with an attention for detail.
  • Able to work to multiple deadlines.
  • Very customer focused.
  • Creative.
  • Professional attitude.
  • Able to take instructions and ask questions.

Qualifications required

  • Must have at least four GCSE levels at grade C and above or equivalent, preferably two of which must be in English Language and Maths
  • Good all round knowledge and skills in ICT

Future prospects

Initial 12 month apprenticeship with a view to either progressing on to level 3 and/or full time employment within the company.

Things to consider

You will receive full training on all the duties that you will be asked to carry out, usually on a one-to-one basis and a ‘mentor’ is likely to be allocated to help you through the learning process. You will also be invited and expected to attend all other mandatory training workshops carried out within the business. Must be able to travel to Lansdowne once a week for college. From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Working Week: Dates and times to be confirmed at interview. You should be able to travel to work in Poole – punctuality and reliability is crucial. You will also need to get to college at Lansdowne in Bournemouth. Please note: Bournemouth & Poole College is managing the recruitment for this vacancy. Subject to meeting the entry criteria you will be invited in for an interview at The College in Bournemouth. You need to attend this session to be accepted to the course, before your details will be passed on to the employer. This is a vital part of the recruitment process.
