Contact Centre/Retail Assistant Apprentice


The position of Contact Centre/Retail Assistant Apprentice serves as the first point of contact for clients by telephone and email, arranging and recording collections and deliveries to support the Charity's objective of providing reusable furniture to people in need along with providing customer service in Roundabout's retail outlet. The Contact Centre/Retail Assistant Apprentice is the principle charity representative to the public and other organisations who contact Roundabout, Monday to Thursday between 09:00-13:00.


The Contact Centre/Retail Assistant Apprentice works in the Roundabout Contact Centre, and Retail area at Units 4 & 7 Blackminster Business Park, Blackminster, Evesham, Worcestershire WR11 7RE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer calls and respond to emails
  • Handle customer enquiries
  • Manage and resolve customer complaints
  • Provide customers with Roundabout service information
  • Enter new customer information into database
  • Update existing customer information
  • Process orders
  • Follow up customer calls where necessary
  • Document all call information according to standard operating procedures
  • Contact businesses or private individual by phone
  • Describe services provided by Roundabout
  • Respond to questions
  • Obtain possible customer leads
  • Greet customers and visitors
  • Assist customers with purchases
  • Record purchases on the sales computer
  • Provide receipts
  • Take cash and card payments
  • Direct furniture donations to the warehouse
  • Liaise with warehouse and office staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Reports to: Manager and Company Secretary

Support: Training for this position will be provided

Qualifications required

GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in Maths, English Language and ICT

Future prospects

Roundabout appointed its first Apprentice in September 2014 who was then awarded a permanent contract following the completion of the Apprenticeship. There is no guarantee of permanent employment in relation to our latest Apprentice opportunity.

During this period Roundabout has assisted thousands of families and individuals and at the same time diverted thousands of tonnes of furniture and other household from landfill.
