    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

To undertake tasks associated with general office duties within a busy office:

  • To assist with customer service duties, being the first point of contact for the Student Support Team.
  • To assist with answering the phone and ensuring messages are e-mailed/passed to relevant persons.
  • To process twice daily incoming post and passing to relevant officers.
  • To support the team in student enrolments and Bursary applications.
  • To assist with clerical and word processing tasks.  This will include Excel spread sheets and updating the College EBS and Promonitor systems.
  • Assist with students signing out, liaising with parents/guardians and communicating to academic staff.
  • To undertake collating and filing within the office.
  • To assist with data entry tasks.
  • To ensure and maintain confidentiality within the working environment at all times.
  • To maintain attention to detail and efficiency within the work you are required to do.
  • To undertake training to become familiar with and actively use the databases specific to the areas in accordance with College regulations.
  • To support any team across the College as and when required.
  • To ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

General

  • To work as a member of a team when required in support of shared objectives, including routine tasks associated with the regular upkeep of working areas.
  • To ensure compliance with statutory regulations and to be fully conversant with specific regulations applicable to individual areas.

Qualifications required

GCSE at grade D or above in English & Maths with a commitment to attain Level 2 in Maths & English.
