    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is pleased to be able to offer 4 Business Support apprenticeship opportunities across the Early Help Service, including one in the Health Visiting / School Nursing Team, one in the Key-Working Team, one in Children’s Centres and one in the all age disability service team.

Duties would include:

Desired skills

  • Demonstrate an interest in administration/business support within an Early Help environment
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office to produce a variety of documents
  • Ability to communicate clearly face to face and on the telephone with a variety of people
  • Ability to input text and figures into a computer accurately
  • Numeracy and literacy skills
  • Commitment to attend appropriate training to attain an appropriate NVQ qualification or equivalent
  • Flexible approach to work by responding to the needs of the services including, at times, requirements to work beyond normal working hours

  • Experience of working in an office environment
  • General knowledge of office procedures
