Is fixing and repairing hardware your thing? Like to get practical with systems and build them?

Fancy yourself as a bit of a trouble-shooter? Then this vacancy is for you. Undertaking an advanced apprenticeship, you will work with an established computer business supporting in IT duties and supporting its customers and their issues, whilst working towards an advanced IT qualification.

Duties include:

  • Testing systems for faults and issues
  • Repairing and fixing faults.
  • Building systems as required to specifications needed.
  • Use various OS systems 
  • Update and install OS systems, software and virus software
  • To advise customers of products and to help with issues.
  • Speak to customer’s face to face instore or via telephone and email.
  • Ensure all admin and logging

Qualifications required

Ideally you will have five GCSEs (Grade A-C) or equivalent including Maths and English, and have a good level of general education; however applicants without theses GCSEs will be considered.

Possible progression to level 4 Infrastructure technician apprenticeship and ongoing career development and progression opportunities upon completion of the apprenticeship

Things to consider

Travel to the location The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Training provider

The structured part of your apprenticeship training will be provided by JBC Skills Training, we are a specialist technical IT training provider.

The training includes desktop support, networking, and specialist training on Microsoft products, both applications and systems. The apprenticeship will give you opportunity encompassing skills in PC Hardware and Peripheral devices, IT Systems Support, Networking and Internet products. You will also learn on-the-job, working as an apprentice alongside experienced colleagues.
