The apprentice will assist in the sales development within the division. They will learn all of the sales and marketing activities within the department, including dealing with customer enquiries, preparation of quotations, dealing with purchase orders, sales order processing and assisting with preparation of data sheets and other marketing material.

Duties to include:

  • To learn sufficient technical knowledge of corrosion control monitoring products so as to advise customers on their requirements and to enable quotations to be prepared.
  • Deal with customer telephone enquiries
  • To assist in the review sales enquiries, establish customer requirements, grade and prioritise ready for quotation.
  • Assist in the preparation of sales quotations and budget estimates in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Submission of product sales quotations together with any supporting data sheets and drawings, as required by the customer and within the time frame agreed or specified.
  • Assist in the preparation of material cost prices as required for quotations.
  • To correctly complete contract costing sheets (shopping list) for approval to enable purchasing against contract orders.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of supplier price lists
  • Participate in contract order reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation of product catalogue data sheets, brochure material, updating of website and other marketing activities and directed by the manager.
  • Chase down all outstanding quotations to try and convert into orders and gain market information by speaking directly to customers by telephone.
  • To undertake other duties in line with the job holders experience and qualifications.

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices from the 1st April is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The new NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by this age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate for their age.
