You role as a Software Developer Apprentice is to support the Client Technology Delivery team in the gathering and analysis of requirements, software development, testing and project activities related to all aspects of technology solutions deployment for their clients. You will Assist in the design and development of solutions appropriate to the mix of client confidentiality and ‘shared-by-default’ of useful knowledge & systems capability as well as ensure adherence to standards and processes in the creation and release of deliverables.

As a Software Developer Apprentice, you will develop towards being able to undertake and manage the following responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of Client application solutions leveraging Work Management, Robotic Process Automation configuration, SharePoint, Consultancy solutions, MI tools (Tableau) and data analysis.
  • Assist in software and solution development, configuration and customisation activities including gathering requirements, planning, estimating, design, creation, testing, data migration, release and implementation of the solutions.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge of development concepts, best practices and procedures for a range of technology based mainly on Microsoft technologies and process automation solutions.
  • Participate in requirements analysis and develop solutions for all tiers of proposed solutions such as the user interface, middle-tier business components, database layer, etc.
  • Document requirements in a clear and unambiguous manner ensuring they are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable and feasible.
  • Manage the eco-system of knowledge necessary for user to comply with standards and reap the benefits of technology such as through definition of appropriate training and adoption strategies and associated material.
  • To effectively build relationships and communicate with business stakeholders and the project team.
  • Take responsibility for reporting, monitoring, risk and issue management of managed systems and applications.
  • Communicate risks, status and analysis to business management in a non-technical manner
  • Operate in an Agile / Continuous Delivery cycle as standard showing high levels of motivation for the rituals of Agile such as stand-ups and face to face collaboration

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Technologies including Office, Visio, Project, Word as well as .NET Frameworks
  • High level of interest in emerging technologies e.g. robotics, AI, data science and other forms of process automation.
  • Ability to assimilate, synthesise and present information in a written and oral manner
  • IT literacy

Qualifications required

You don’t need loads of professional experience in IT. However, you’ll need at least five GCSEs (or equivalent) of grades A*-C (or new grading of 4-9) including Maths, English and IT / Science. Ideally but not essential, you will also possess A-Levels (or equivalent) in an ICT or Science related subject.

Future prospects

By working hard and demonstrating your ability, drive and commitment throughout your 13 Month - 16 month apprenticeship scheme, upon completion, depending on business requirements, you will be offered a permanent contract ensuring you have further opportunities to continue growing within this exciting organisation.
