Main duties of the role will include:

  • Carry out a range of vegetation management tasks such as strimming, brushcutting, woodchipping and fencing.
  • Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Undertake general maintenance on small plant and tools making sure all items are fit for purpose.

Qualifications required

  • Full UK Driving License is desirable but not essential
  • GCSE or equivalent A* - E in Maths and English
  • Must be 18 or over

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds, £7.05 for anyone aged 21 to 24 and £7.50 for those over 25. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). For more information visit:

Training provider

  • Level 2 Award in Eemergency First Aid at Work.
  • Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides Guidance OR Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides.
  • Participate in an Induction.
  • Understand the basics of manual handling in relation to your job role
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths, English and ICT if required.

There is a possibility to also complete the following training:

  • NPTC Strimmer
  • NPTC Woodchipper
  • NPTC Chainsaw
