    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties would include:

  • Manufacture and assemble parts and components to engineering standards in a timely manner
  • Ensure that deadlines are met or when at risk report to Team Leader
  • Attend site’s worldwide to install / maintain equipment produced & supplied by Howorth Air Technology & partners
  • Install various parts and items for the purpose of completing projects safely, to required quality standards within established time frames.
  • Problem solve when required to produce work which still meets clients requirements and standards
  • When changes to drawings are made ensure that these are reported to Team Leaders
  • Maintain tools etc for the purpose of completing projects safely and within established time frames
  • Assist other trades personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
  • Bring to the attention of team leader any ideas for improvements to process or working practices
  • Keep own work area clean, tidy and compliant with Health and Safety standards
  • Any other reasonable task requested by line manager or Directors

Things to consider

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for £3.50 (from 1st April 2017) per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training. Expected Apprentice Duration: At least 12 months
