Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Being responsible for the testing of software produced by the Development team
  • Producing quality test documentation (Test Plans, Test Scripts, Test Completion Report and Traceability) to an agreed deadline
  • Reviewing and amending functional requirements before creating test plans
  • Attending and inputting to project initiation meetings to ensure a good understanding of potential testing requirements
  • Investigating and verifying problems with the software systems and base data reported by the business and forward to the relevant parties for solution
  • Liaising with the necessary parties during the testing life cycle to ensure that the implementation is delivered on time and of expected quality
  • Producing reports of the testing conducted and inform the relevant parties of any issues raised
  • Evaluating third party software for the purposes of improving or automating the testing and associated procedures
  • Contributing to the effectiveness of the Test Team by the sharing of technical and business knowledge

Training provider

The Estio Training programme gives young people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.

Learners will receive ten weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

This apprenticeship will give you a Level 4 Software Tester Standard with training in areas such as:

  • Functional skills, Maths L2 and English L2
  • Investigating and Defining Customer Requirements
  • Software Development Fundamentals
  • Software Testing Fundamentals
  • Testing Tools
  • Testing Concepts

Some of these modules will include an option to take an examination in order to receive a professional certificate.
