    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties to include:

  • Dealing with patients, doctors, nurses and visitors to the practice.
  • Answering the telephone and conveying messages.
  • Sorting the mail, ensuring it is dealt with efficiently.
  • Scanning documents.
  • Photocopying insurance medicals and reports.
  • Dealing with and directing patients and visitors appropriately when they attend the surgery.
  • Carrying out tasks and areas of individual responsibility that have been delegated to you.

The Village Medical Centre The Village Medical Centre is an NHS General Practice serving about 6800 patients in Wallasey Village, Wirral. There are six GP Principals three Nurses and a Health Care Assistant. The practice is a training practice for new General Practitioners. We provide full medical services for all of our registered population, and are open to new patients.

Training provider

  • The position will include on going in-house training, mentoring and support in order to be able to carry out the duties required as part of the role.
