You will work as an Apprentice Cold Roll-Forming Setter Operator and your duties will involve:

  • Keeping the mills operating with sets being done in allocated times
  • Setting is to be done in accordance of the setting sheet
  • Mills required to be set ready to roll each job will need to be carried out to ensure the best   practice is adopted to achieve maximum speeds
  • Each coil change must be carried out as quickly as possible ensuring that the correct coil is used and that the gauge is checked for every new coil
  • All safety procedures must be followed
  • Ensure all processes are carried out effectively

Ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is required. Interested in engineering. Work well as a individual or a team.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds, £7.05 an hour for anyone aged 21-24, and £7.50 an hour for anyone aged 25 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
