A career in the Motor Trade waits for you if you are keen and enthusiastic and willing to learn about mechanical, diagnostic and technical issues on a diverse range of vehicles.

Daily duties will include:

  • Assisting an experienced technician in all aspects of servicing,
  • MOTs,
  • Tyres,
  • Exhausts,
  • Diagnosing faults as well as general repairs.

You will be instructed in all H&S matters and be able to communicate with staff and customers.

Qualifications required

Ideally you will have 5 GCSE or equivalent A-C grade, however, this is not essential as you will be assessed on Maths and English. Full training will be provided.

Future prospects

Progression to a level 3 is available to the right candidate.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds, £7.05 for anyone aged 21 to 24 and £7.50 for those over 25.   • Technical Certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles

All training will be delivered in the work place with no requirement for day release to college. You will be mentored by experienced members of staff while developing your skills to a nationally recognised industry standard.
