A fantastic opportunity in a beautiful setting, The Plough sits canal side and is a popular country pub ran by great managers who are looking for an aspiring chef.

As an Apprentice Commis Chef you will be working as part of a team of six chefs. The kitchen is busy due to the popular nature of the pub. Your responsibilities will include preparing and cooking all aspects of the menu. You will be expected to adhere to all aspects of food hygiene and support the team in the maintenance of this. Supervision and guidance will be provided by the Head Chef and his highly experienced team.

Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.

Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training, this will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English. They will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.

Things to consider

You will be expected to work evenings and weekends. The earliest required start for this position is 8am and the latest required finish would be 10pm. This role does require split shifts. Training provider

You will complete a level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship. This will be delivered by a vocational learning advisor over 12 months with visits to the work place every 4 weeks. You will complete end point assessment once your 12 months of learning is complete.
