The successful applicant will work in a small team making parts for the other team members to assemble. The apprentice will also learn other parts of the business such as packing, treating parts, finishing and quality control.

They will see the whole process from start to finished product.

The apprentice will use a variety of woodworking tools (all machines and power tools) such as

  • Impact driver and screwdriver
  • Cordless drill
  • Electric hand sander
  • Pillar drill
  • Chop saw
  • Air tools
  • Router table
  • Band saw
  • Woodworking tools

The apprentice will mainly be cutting, shaping, machining and sanding of all wooden components the company makes.

They will also assemble parts into products when necessary and will also be responsible for playing their part in keeping the workplace safe and tidy.


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

No previous experience necessary but if you have good manual dexterity and enjoy making / creating things from wood this would, of course, be advantageous.

Qualifications required

Minimum GCSE Grade D in English and Maths or the equivalent Functional skills at Level 1/2.

Future prospects

The apprentice will be involved in other aspects of the business and develop into a sector / cell leader.

Things to consider

An assessor from In-Comm Training & Business Services will visit the successful candidate once a month for a period of twelve months in order to deliver the NVQ. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

All designs are manufactured to the highest quality, and we continually update our products based on customer feedback.
