    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties include:

  • To help maintain the day to day financial tasks. 
  • To input Purchase Invoices onto Sage on a daily basis, ensuring purchases are posted to correct cost centres and have an approved purchase order.
  • To send out regular remittances for payments.
  • To help raise sales invoices as requested.
  • To send out monthly customer statements and assist with the credit control process.
  • To deal with customer/supplier queries regarding finance.
  • To maintain financial filing systems.
  • To support with the payroll processing.
  • To complete a monthly credit check for customers of The Apprenticeship Works.
  • To process card payments in respect of invoices via telephone.
  • To liaise with Sage regarding updates to the system and to resolve any queries.
  • To ensure any new members of staff complete an asset form and complete regular asset checks.
