Main Duties Include:

  • Provide a point of contact for patients, their families and their carers. 
  • Provide help and advice on health-related questions
  • Advise patients on how to resolve concerns and problems, or how to make a formal complaint
  • Give information regarding local support groups.
  • Support the Relatives Support Officers as required.
  • To provide an open, impartial and senstitive service. 
  • To meet, face to face with enquirers in order to advise and assist.
  • To take telephone calls directed to the PALS number. 
  • To ascertain the callers concerns, noting all the relevent contact details, in order to be able to advise and assist as appropriate. 
  • Ensure that the database of useful contacts in maintained and updated 
  • Ensure the head or deputy head is notified promptly of any serious and sensitive issues arising as part of the PALS enquiry. 
  • Set up meetings where neccessary, to facilitate the resolution of complaints between patients, their relatives, managers and clinicians.

The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
