As a family run business we will provide a supportive working environment for you to learn in.

You will be preparing meals using fresh local ingredients and be providing quality home-cooked food to our customers.

Our kitchen is large and modern and ideal for a passionate individual starting out.

Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • To assist in the overall operation of the kitchen: food preparation & service; hygiene and stock control.
  • To prepare food for service to the specification required.
  • To maintain a high level of hygiene in working practices at all times.
  • To receive deliveries and maintaining stock in a diligent & hygienic manner.
  • To operate kitchen equipment in a safe manner.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Any experience in a catering kitchen is preferable not but necessary.

Personal qualities

  • Ability to focus on attention to detail.
  • High standards of personal presentation.
  • Hardworking, committed and willing to learn and develop.
  • Flexible in the approach to the business needs. (Tasks, hours and responsibilities)
  • Willingness to contribute to the development of new menu ideas.
  • A flair for cooking.

Qualifications required

  • You should have a good standard of Maths & English.
  • Ideally knife skills but these can also be learnt.

Things to consider

Public Transport is an issue in the area, please consider how you will get to work. Due to the nature of the business the position will involve working evenings and weekends (including Bank Holidays).

The Red Lion is a family run, busy country pub/restaurant. We serve local home cooked food and pride ourselves on good quality food and service. As the current owners we have been trading for 3.5 years now and in that time have built up a great local reputation for quality and standard of our food and service.
