    The current National Minimum Wage rates are £4.05 an hour for 16 - 17 year olds, £5.60 an hour for 18 - 20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship(usually one day per week).

As an apprentice receptionist your duties will include:

  • Answering telephones, speaking to customers 
  • Making appointments via telephone and email
  • Managing the booking system and appointment diary for therapists
  • Managing stock, ordering new supplies when required
  • Keeping track of timesheets for therapists
  • Taking payments via cash and card

You will be the first person customers see when they enter the salon so a professional appearance and polite, approachable manner is very important.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The new NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship.
