Established in 1984, RR&B Garages is one of the world’s leading independent Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Car Specialists and a proud member of the ‘Rolls-Royce and Bentley Specialist Association’.

The company has a vacancy for a Coachwork Apprentice at its world class workshop in Bromsgrove.

The Apprenticeship Programme  has been developed to ensure the specialist skills required to carry out

  • panel work,
  • framing,
  • paint,
  • fine lining,
  • ash framing,
  • veneering 
  • other bespoke work,

Are passed on to the next generation of Engineers and continue to thrive within the Restoration Industry.

The UK and International Classic Vehicle Restoration industry has grown significantly over the last decade. It has a shortage of skilled and trained specialists and therefore offers great prospects and opportunities to keen and enthusiastic applicants.


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

The ideal candidate must have a keen interest and a strong passion for the Bentley and Rolls Royce classic motor cars.
Some previous work experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

Future prospects

On completion of the Apprenticeship Programme, apprentices will be trained and qualified as a Heritage Engineering Technician – Coach Building & Trim. Employment after completion of the third year is subject to performance and a position being available.

Things to consider

There is a high expectation that successful candidates will work hard, be conscientious and represent the company well on all occasions. Appearance, attitude, timekeeping and personal presentation will all be taken into account throughout the interview process. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

Training provider

Full time employment with training RR&B Garages working towards achieving IMI Level 3 qualifications in Heritage Engineering.

Apprentices will gain experience in their specialist department working alongside skilled craftsmen. Apprentices will attend college on block release where they will be taught the principles and theory behind each technique, system and process.

They will gain practical experience of working on components and vehicles and participate in events and enrichment activities throughout the programme.

Successful applicants will attend college on a residential block-release programme delivered over 36 months.  College will be from 10.30am Monday to 2.00pm Friday. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the company.

In order to ensure that apprentices are competent in completing tasks on their own, Assessors will observe tasks being carried out in the work place at every 6 – 8 weeks. Assessors and Tutors will provide a strong support network to ensure that Apprentices progress and succeed.
