Duties will include;

  • Escort customers to their tables
  • Assists customers with seating arrangements
  • Present menus to customers and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon requests
  • Take and write customers’ food orders on slips, memorize orders or take orders into kitchen staff
  • Prepare, check and communicate with kitchen staff on order
  • Serve food or beverages to customers and prepare or serve speciality dishes at tables as required
  • Prepare hot or cold beverages
  • Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving
  • Check that customer are enjoying their meals and correct any problems
  • Collect dirty dishes and other tableware
  • Process customer bills or payments and collects payments from customers
  • Clean tables or counters after customers have finished dining
  • Schedule dining reservations
  • Perform cleaning duties
  • Clean food preparation areas
  • Provide customers with general information or assistance

Additional duties will also include;

  • Enters and prepares the rooms for cleaning
  • Tidies and clean room and furniture in preparation for new guests to arrive
  • Checks and secures rooms
  • Replenishments of guests towels as supplied

Things to consider

The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
