As an Apprentice Business Administrator with CTS your main duties will consist of:

  • To carry out data input and administrative work with a high level of professionalism and accuracy.
  • To provide an efficient administrative service as required including the typing of letters, mail merge documents, dealing with incoming mail and updating databases used by CTS.
  • To undertake tasks relating to the effective management and storage of documentation, including archiving.
  • Minute taking for internal meetings.
  • Cover for other administrative roles within the organisation.
  • To monitor and maintain stationery levels and process orders on a weekly basis and/or as required.
  • To maintain a tidy and efficient office environment.
  • To answer telephone calls and deal with routine enquiries.
  • To process all reviews on a daily basis and produce reports as and when required.
  • Work a varied shift pattern to deal with changing business in the centre.
  • Daily meet and greet in the conference centre
  • Continued set ups on a daily basis in line with up and coming business.
  • Assist staff and visitors by responding to reasonable requests for support.
  • Undertake other reasonable administrative and other tasks assigned by HR, SMT and TM's.
  • To participate positively in the appraisal process and use feedback as a development opportunity.
  • To contribute positively to the organisations, business plans and work diligently to meet set targets (individual/team).

Competency qualification: Apprentices will be required to produce work and build an e-portfolio of evidence through blended learning which will include practical and written knowledge assessments which are carried out in the workplace.   

Knowledge qualification is delivered in the classroom on a day release basis over a period of 16 weeks.  The course is completed with written / computerised assessments that are delivered in exam conditions in the classroom.

Functional Skills at level 1 in Maths, English and IT delivered in the classroom

Employment Rights & Responsibilities are embedded in the competency qualification.

Personal Learning & Thinking Skills are delivered via a workbook and complete

Other information

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government.  Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
