    £140.00

    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

  • Working week

    40 hours per week to include Saturday hours. The starting wage is £3.50 per hour, but this is negotiable based on individual experience and abilities.

Eastwood Farm are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join them as an Apprentice.

Duties will include

  • Milking duties during which you will be involved with many aspects of the dairy
  • Involvement with Vet rounds – TB testing, medicines, insemination and pregnancy checks
  • Calving
  • Feeding the animals - Making feed and measuring ingredients
  • Preparing bedding and mucking out
  • Animal care and management - Livestock movement
  • Slurry and yard scrapping, cleaning yard, boarder and fence maintenance
  • Involvement in ALL aspects of running a farm and what it entails

Confident working with large animals

Most skills can be taught including tractor driving if necessary. But a good eye for working with stock is essential as picking up signs of early illness is crucial.

About the employer

We are dairy farmers milking 115 pedigree holstein cows. We rear all our own replacements, rear our beef calves on as stores and along with our own dairy bull calves buy in further bull calves to rear as veal. We also have 140 acres of arable crops growing all of our own cereals to feed.
