As part of your apprenticeship you will learn how to undetake the below duties:

  • Preparing vegetables by peeling, cutting and dicing
  • Helping chef on curry department
  • Helping chef prepare pizzas and cook in pizza oven
  • Working on the tandori section
  • Working on the grill
  • Preparing salads and ensuring the salad bar is well stocked at all time
  • Helping compliance with food safety policy
  • Washing pots and pans

About the employer

Slice of India is a buffet style restaurant specialising in Indian cuisine and who also offers freshly cooked pizzas and a grill menu. They have seating for 450 and also have a large conferencing and events room upstairs that can seat 700. They also have 2 pubs, one near Swadlincote and one in Belper who offer full English menus and, once trained, you will have the opportunity to work on all sites

Training provider

Intermediate Apprenticeship in Professional Cookery

Your apprenticeship will consist of:

  • Intermediate Diploma in Professional Cookery
  • Level 2 Technical Certificate
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths (if required)

During your placement with Slice of India, you will learn practical and technical job skills whilst becoming qualified in the industry.
