As a government backed high growth Kent business that specialises in all things entry and exit related we are pleased to offer a new apprenticeship that seeks to develop the successful applicant to become a full time member of our dedicated team.

Working out of our trade counter and workshop, in a rural location on the edge of a Weald village, this apprenticeship offers the chance to learn and implement various security related skills involving both fully manual and machine led operations. As a full time apprentice you will be working alongside our experienced trade counter/workshop staff to learn the many different facets of dealing with the service, maintenance, repair and supply of security related products and workshop services. Tasks will involve the use of hand tools and bench tools and include using machines for cutting, drilling, buffing, shaping etc. Other activities such as job preparation, stock management and trade counter sales will also be included. This role is intended to lead to a full employment opportunity upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Machine operation/engineering
  • Customer service
  • Computer literate

Personal qualities

This role would suit a person of a positive disposition with a good attitude and outgoing personality that has a keen interest in engineering, how things work and an aptitude for working with their hands.

Qualifications required

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A*-D, including English and Maths.

Future prospects

This role is intended to lead to a full employment opportunity upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

Our working day is 8-5pm Monday-Friday though our trade counter also opens on Saturday mornings. It is likely that you will be involved with Saturday morning work in lieu of an afternoon off during the week. Can you travel to your place of work reliably and without issue? You will need to work with machines, handle very small components, assemble locks, cut keys etc – you must like working with your hands and be prepared to spend long periods at a work bench showing attention detail whilst also being able to deal with interruptions to bench work for more pressing requirements. Is this you? You will serve our clients directly face-to-face at the trade counter – some people love this aspect others don’t – does it suit your personality?
