Wheelock Primary School in Wheelock, Sandbach is searching for an Administration Apprentice.

The person applying for this role needs to be hard-working, positive, approachable and adaptable.

Day to day responsibilities to include:

  • Deal with telephone and face to face enquiries to ensure that all calls/visitors are handled efficiently and effectively and good relations fostered.
  • Receive goods and other items (including pupil’s personal possessions) and ensure they get to the correct destination.
  • Provide general clerical support for the school including word processing, emails, photocopying, filing, collation of information, distribution of mail, diary organisation etc to ensure the efficient and timely provision of information.
  • Collect and count cash and cheques, received e.g. dinner monies, donations etc. and maintain accurate records of all monies received to ensure that all monies are accounted for.
  • Maintain and update school files, manual and computer, including staff and pupil records to ensure that accurate information is stored securely and available for use by appropriate persons.
  • Maintain school pupil databases to ensure accurate information is available
  • Monitor pupil attendance and manage daily absence in line with the schools attendance policy.

If successful, you will also be required to apply for a Criminal Record Check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.  The level of check required for this job is Enhanced Disclosure. Further information is contained in the Further Details document enclosed.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Have or be working towards NVQ level 2 admin or equivalent and a willingness to complete level 3.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Qualifications / working experience Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Good Communication - internal & external.
  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • IT skills - proficient in Microsoft Office i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Ability to take instruction and follow-up .
  • Able as a team member and independently using own initiative .
