Our Apprentice will support the work of the Engineering team. This will involve ensuring the workshop is maintained to a high standard.

  • Working to Engineering Drawings
  • Building Rig frames & structures
  • Determining the optimum location and then mounting instrumentation, valves and other rig components.
  • Design of parts for manufacture within the Engineering Workshop
  • Pipework
  • Point to point electrical cabling including plug and socket termination
  • Leak testing
  • Electrical Circuit checking
  • Calibration of Instrumentation
  • Liaising with Scientists, Design teams and the Mechanical Engineering Workshop.

  • Excellent written and verbal English.

Qualifications required

A minimum of five GCSE's (or equivalent qualifications) at grade C (Grade 5) and above including English, Science and Maths.

Future prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities to progress onto higher level qualifications to support your career development within Johnson Matthey.

Things to consider

You will be required to wear suitable PPE, including eye protection, foot protection and suitable clothing at all times. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
