Working, at all times, under the supervision of a qualified/experiences member of staff, the Apprentice will undertake a selection of the following duties:


  • General administrative support
  • Operating office equipment
  • Organising and Supporting Meetings
  • Researching and reporting information
  • Storing, retrieving and archiving information
  • Inputting data onto a number of computer programmes
  • Making and receiving telephone calls- both external and internal
  • Conducting oneself with an awareness of Health and Safety for themselves and others.
  • Receiving and directing visitors.
  • Managing diary systems
  • Managing customer relations
  • Organising business travel and accommodation
  • Preparing text from notes
  • Working effectively with others
  • Producing a variety of documents
  • Adhering to the Trusts policies, systems and procedures (including the Trusts Confidentiality Policy)
  • Working effectively within the business environment.
  • Providing help and support other people
  • Meeting deadlines and reviewing personal progress regularly
  • Communicating effectively including discussion and written communication

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

The Candidate will have excellent verbal communication skills and Good Computer skills. The successful candidate will have experience of using at least one of the following IT packages: Word, Excel, and Internet, whilst having the ability to answer queries efficiently over the phone or face to face in a polite manner.

Personal qualities

The successful candidate will need to be totally committed to your learning and to putting this into practice in the workplace. Have had some work experience; paid, unpaid, voluntary, school work experience placement

Qualifications required

English and Maths Level 1 qualification or above (equal to a GCSE grade D or above in Maths and English or above.

Things to consider

The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
