    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties will include:

  • Serving customers
  • Making hot drinks
  • Working a till, cash handling and taking orders
  • Adhering to hygiene standards and making sure the public area is clean and tidy at all times
  • Assisting with retail duties in the gift shop and other customer facing areas
  • Supporting service users
  • Assisting students
  • All other associated duties as required

As an Apprentice you will work with the employer at their new site on Grimsby Road in Caistor. You will receive full training and support throughout the Apprenticeship. An Assessor will visit you within the workplace to deliver training and assessment for your Apprenticeship portfolio.

Things to consider

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. This position is based at Top House Farm, 23 Grimsby Road, Caistor, LN7 6RJ. Please check the employer’s location and ensure you would be able to report for work on a daily basis. (From the 1st May 2017, the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices aged 16-18, and those aged over 19 who are in the first year of their Apprenticeship, is set at £3.50 per hour. The NMW applies to time working and time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the age categories above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age.)
