Your day to day tasks will  include the following and a basic understanding of the fundamentals of mechanical engineering is essential: 

  • You will be working on basic electrical control systems, and using test instruments for example 'Testing for Dead'
  • Using hand tools
  • Power tools
  • Welding
  • Fitting engineering parts together and dismantling
  • Maintain equipment & write reports
  • Communicating technical information
  • Carrying out all engineering duties safely, efficiently & effectively

Desired skills

You will have:

  • Completed the Level 2 Engineering Diploma and have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of mechanical engineering.
  • A good working knowledge of basic electrical control systems, and how to use test instrument, for example 'Testing for Dead'.
  • The ability to accept challenges and have a progressive and determined attitude to succeed in improving the profitability, environment & safety culture of this company.

Personal qualities

  • I am particularly looking for someone with a competitive attitude, a sportsman or scout, volunteer, cadet or with other outdoor interests.
  • Is Punctual and has as genuine interest in Engineering.

Qualifications required

Good GCSE results (A*-C or equivalent qualifications) are desirable.

Future prospects

After successful completion of the apprenticeship a full time position could be possible, together with potential career progression

Things to consider

You may be expected to work weekends if there is demand. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
