Lorna Gladwin Beauty is a small, independent salon who have provide tailored beauty products and services for our clients based in Bournville Village.

We have recently gained additional space within our property to expand our repertoire of cosmetic products and services, therefore we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed apprentice to join the team!

Duties and Responsibilities

We are a small salon and therefore we all help to support the day to day running of the business.

  • Welcoming and interacting with customers, providing a polite and friendly service
  • Salon presentation and cleanliness
  • Perfecting treatments that have been learnt at college
  • Attending to clients before and after treatments
  • Answering the telephone and booking in clients
  • Cash handling and processing payments

What will you learn?

You will attend South and City College Birmingham, Bournville Campus for 1 day per week to support your training and development.

Main qualification mandatory units:

  • Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety work (4 credits)
  • Promote additional services or products to clients (6 credits)
  • Develop and maintain effectiveness at work (3 credits)
  • Provide facial skincare treatment (8 credits)
  • Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes (5 Credits)
  • Carry out waxing services (7 credits)
  • Provide manicure services (6 credits)
  • Provide pedicure services (6 credits)

Optional example units (9 credits must be achieved)

  • Fulfil salon reception duties (3 credits)
  • Provide makeup services (6 credits)
  • Carry out ear piercing (2 Credits)
  • Manicure/Peducure (3 Credits)

College attendance will be every Monday at Bournville Campus, you will also received one to one support from a dedicated Assessor who will support you onsite.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

No physical skill set required as we will provide all training for the position. All you will need is a polite and attentive manner coupled with a willingness to learn.

Personal qualities

Punctual, polite and hard working.

Qualifications required

You will need to achieve Functional Skills Level 1 as part of your Apprenticeship training in Maths, English and ICT. If you have a Grade C or Grade 4/5 in any of these subjects, you will be exempt from studying Functional Skills.

Future prospects

For the right candidate there is the potential of a full time permanent job.

Lorna has been a therapist for 14 years and has been running her own business for 4years. We are a very small salon that works below a hair salon in the very beautiful village of Bournville.
