    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

DUTIES:

  • Answering Incoming telephone calls
  • Recording customer enquiries on internal systems
  • Contacting suppliers for product information, pricing and stock availability
  • Checking product specifications for suitability to customer requirements
  • Creating products codes on internal systems
  • Maintaining existing product codes on internal systems
  • Creating customer quotes on internal systems
  • Raising sales orders on internal systems
  • Preparing engineers’ worksheets on internal system for new sales orders
  • Assisting in the raising of purchase orders for suppliers
  • Chasing outstanding purchase orders with suppliers
  • Liaising with couriers to check deliveries
  • A candidate who has a genuine interest in IT as well as developing a career in IT Sales

Future prospects

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress into a permanent position on team. Long term the candidate will be trained to take responsibility and ownership for their own accounts to manage client relationship through sales and customer service. Initially you will be studying a Level 2 in Business Administration, with the potential to progress onto a further Level 3 Qualification

Things to consider

There may be long periods using a computer. This role requires the candidate to have a keen interest in IT but is more on the client engagement and administration side than the technical side.
