    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

We require an apprentice to join our new salon to develop your own skills and become a fully qualified hairdresser. You will receive on the job training and also attend college one day per week to further your skills and knowledge of the industry.

As an apprentice hairdresser you duties will include:

  • Greeting clients.
  • General house duties.
  • Shampooing.
  • Client care & preparing clients for our stylists.
  • Organising the salon products.
  • General reception duties including – answering telephones and managing bookings/appointments etc.
  • Cleaning duties.
  • Blow drying clients (when trained to do so).
  • Tinting and applying colour (when trained to do so).
  • Cutting and styling (when trained to do so).

Progression to Advanced Level Apprenticeship (Level 3). Full time employment in the Hair & Beauty Industry.
