An excellent opportunity for an organised individual to provide administrative support for a Leeds based charity as well as the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge in a supportive environment. You will be at the heart of the organisation contributing to its success by providing a smooth and efficient office function.

Behind Closed Doors delivers support to enable people living in Leeds who have experienced domestic violence and abuse to make informed choices about their futures, improve their quality of life and leave the abuse behind.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To provide general administrative and clerical support including typing, filing, answering the office phone, assisting with monitoring and record keeping.
  • To support the Finance, Administration and Monitoring Officer with the day to day running of the office environment.
  • To perform basic book-keeping duties and provide support when needed, to the Finance, Administration and Monitoring Officer.
  • To provide support with the maintenance of databases.
  • To accurately input monitoring data.
  • To take, type and distribute minutes if required.
  • To order stationary and maintain stock levels.
  • To deal with incoming and outgoing post and routine correspondence.
  • Provide support in the preparation of regular reports on monitoring information as required.
  • To contribute to the development and production of promotional materials in general for community fundraising and events.
  • To raise the profile and awareness of Behind Closed Doors locally and nationally in a way that is consistent with our vision, mission and values via appropriate social media channels whilst protecting and enhancing BCD’s reputation.
  • To manage appropriately, in a way that is consistent with our vision, mission and values.
  • To build relationships with existing supporters and donors online.
  • To support the marketing and promotion of BCD’s training offers.
  • To assist with developing and maintaining relationships with local community organisations and businesses.
  • To assist with online fundraising campaigns.
  • To commit to personal development, taking advantage of education and training opportunities and working to develop own competence required.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be deemed consistent with the requirements of the post.
  • Social media communications with supporters.

Qualifications required

Training provider

Mode of Delivery: Delivered entirely in the workplace

  • Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration (QCF)
  • Level 2 Apprenticeship is delivered entirely in the workplace where you will gain knowledge, understanding and skills on the job.
  • An Assessor from Leeds City College will visit you on a regular basis to complete your college work.

Functional Skills qualifications:

  • Level 1 Functional Skill in English
  • Level 1 Functional Skill in Maths
  • Level 1 Functional Skill in ICT
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

The training that BCD would provide is:

  • Domestic Violence and Abuse Awareness (**for your info we run this in house – it is part of our Volunteer training programme and is 1 day a week for 6 weeks)
  • Level 1 Safeguarding Adults
  • Level 1 Safeguarding Children and Young People
  • Any other training which is identified to develop the candidates role and NVQ

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
