Day to day duties the candidate would have to do would include:

  • Measuring, grading and feeding batches of raw materials into production machinery
  • Operating production line equipment, like a conveyor line in a canning factory
  • Assembling goods on a production line, like fitting circuit boards into computers
  • Reporting equipment faults to maintenance staff
  • Finishing products, for example applying protective coatings
  • Monitoring the production process and carrying out basic testing and quality checks
  • Storing goods and raw materials in the factory or warehouse
  • Using lifting equipment and forklift trucks
  • Packing goods ready for shipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining work areas and machinery

Full training will be given in all areas of the business. Working with a small team of operatives with regular contact with company directors.

An eventuality of the role would be working within the Warehouse, duties here would include:

  • Forklift operation (dependant on age of candidate) and material handling
  • Sorting, packing and despatching goods to customers’ requirements

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Basic engineering knowledge or mechanical skills.
  • The role will involve moving and lifting of heavy materials.

Personal qualities

  • Someone who will fit in with the fact that we are a small friendly company – we bring our dogs to work and we have a strong “pull together” ethic.

Qualifications required

  • Minimum GCSE, or equivalent, Maths C/4.

Future prospects

Opportunity to include potential to lead to a full time Operative job with a growing company. This will lead to other opportunities both on the manufacturing side and potentially with administration or Sales.

Things to consider

We run out of a number of converted farm buildings and there will be times when the successful applicant will be outside. However, a full uniform, including bodywarmer and coat and safety shoes will be provided. It can be quite a physical role. We are in the middle of nowhere, so there are no shops or food outlets for about 3 miles, there is a local bus that runs hourly.
